Strategic Plan

Wisconsin Lutheran College is a nationally ranked leader in providing academic excellence in higher education and graduating students who make a difference as Christian servant leaders at home, in their church, in their careers, and in their community. Much opportunity exists for WLC to share its brand promise of preparing Christian servant leaders and existing programs with prospective students. The college will uncover ways to make a WLC education affordable to continue to maintain 1,000 traditional undergraduate students. At the same time, optimization must occur to ensure net tuition levels and financial aid packages meet market demand while minimizing a negative economic impact on the college's financials.

Wisconsin Lutheran College is committed to pursuing excellence and strategically growing its graduate programs to prepare adults as Christian servant leaders. The college has identified new signature academic programs in the graduate degree arena. WLC believes that strategic investment in these signature programs positions the institution for future growth and financial sustainability and provides additional opportunities to educate and prepare Christian servant leaders who are seeking a graduate degree in our community and beyond.

Wisconsin Lutheran College strives to provide an exceptional academic learning experience that remains Christ-focused in preparing Christian servant leaders and embraces a range of delivery models from in-person to online and flexible learning options. WLC seeks to develop possibilities for learning modalities that appeal to students not currently enrolled. Technology impacts learners and instructors, and finding the proper balance for optimal learning within a comprehensive curriculum grounded in the liberal arts is essential to remaining relevant as a Christian higher education institution that seeks to prepare Christian servant leaders.

Since its founding in 1973, Wisconsin Lutheran College has remained faithful to its mission as a Christian college that prepares Christian servant leaders. In light of an ever-growing sentiment amongst society to minimize Christian values and beliefs, WLC seeks to define its Christian niche further by re-examining its marketing and communication collateral and language. Seeking to engage the Christian sector for students and donors fully, the organization will explore ways and opportunities to penetrate our Christian primary market by leveraging its distinctive student life experience and the Center for Christian Leadership to help promote WLC and provide our world with more Christian servant leaders.

In order to position Wisconsin Lutheran College for the future, it is essential to focus on substantive ways to improve, be more efficient, and strive for innovation in various contexts. This theme addresses ways to improve the financial stability of WLC by measuring the ROI and impact of all programs and departments across the college in light of its focus on preparing Christian servant leaders. Additionally, the college seeks to uncover innovative new revenue streams that fit within the college's mission.
